Of all the things I can remember from childhood, I have vivid memories of my mom and I walking up to the Origins Cosmetics kiosk every time we’d go to the mall. Mind you, my mom rarely wore makeup (or at least she didn’t look like she did)—she was a skinimalist long before the “no makeup-makeup” look was ever in vogue. “It’s natural and really good,” she would assure me (I’d nod like I knew what she was talking about), before swiping her credit card on the latest moisturizer or mascara.

Flash forward 23 years later, and Origins has become a staple in my beauty routine. Perhaps it’s nostalgia, my mother’s words imprinted on me from years of strolls past that unassuming mall booth. Perhaps it’s the quality—Origins is indeed “natural and really good,” rarely letting me down whenever I test a new product. It’s probably both. It’s hard to pick favorites, but if I absolutely had to choose, the Ginzing Eye Cream ($28) would land itself on top of the podium. This dream cream is loaded with antioxidants that wake up tired under eyes better than your favorite energy drink.

This is actually Origins’ Ginzing Eye Cream 2.0. The brand’s original de-puffing cream was around for years, racking up a devoted following thanks to its magical brightening and lightening abilities that work as soon as you put it on. Its formula got an update last winter, adding new skin-loving ingredients to the mix for even more de-puffing powers. There’s still ginseng and caffeine from coffee beans to give tired skin a rejuvenating boost, only this time, there’s vitamin C (even more antioxidants) and niacinamide, to smooth and strengthen skin.

The new formula also includes “illuminating mineral pigments,” which are one of my favorite things about this product. Each morning, I’ll wash my face and dab a teensy tiny bit of the moisturizer under my eyes, and immediately, I look more awake. Even after long hours of typing on the computer and staring into the vast blue light, a swipe of this caffeinated cream jolts my under eyes awake, fading circles and soothing puffiness.

Now, I might be biased—I realize that all those trips to the mall definitely left a lasting impression on my skin-care preferences. But judging from this eye cream’s stellar reviews on all fronts, including a 91 percent approval rating on Origins’ website, I’m not the only one who swears by this stuff.

A few that stand out:

    • “I have super sensitive skin and I’m always down a few hours sleep. This is cooling and refreshing, it also has the slightest tint that helps me look more human,” — Origins customer
    • “I’ve been using this product for several weeks now, and I just spent an extra two minutes trying to remove the concealer on the dark bags under my eyes only to realize that’s actually how my under eye looks now, BRIGHT! Without makeup on!” — Sephora customer
    • “I can’t get enough of this eye cream, the consistency is light, and it applies very smoothly on the skin. My eyes look so refreshed,” — Ulta customer
    • “Such a lovely eye cream! Helps refresh my eyes and disguises dark circles and bags! The pot lasts a long time too!” — Origins customer

You get the point. No matter where you buy this glow-enhancing cream from, the reviews all the say what I’ve been saying all along: It rejuvenates, brightens, and soothes weary skin. It’s so good, you’ll never need to pick up an extra cup of coffee again (okay, we can’t promise that, but you get it).

If my mom taught me anything, it’s that Origins has been onto something for a long time. Twenty-something years later, and they’re still doing great things. Snag a jar of this stuff and give your eyes the boost of caffeine they’ve been craving.
