Health expert warned that there can be a whole host of symptoms of the illness and they can be rather vague.

He told Express.co.uk: “The issue with the deficiency is down to just how important vitamin D is.

“It’s so universal. We’ve evolved and so we need it for different things, the biggest being bone health.

“Other things like immune conditions, cardiovascular disease, and even obesity.

“There are some links with mental health as well, and questions whether there’s a role in seasonal affective disorder disorders.”

The evidence shows a shocking number of health issues are linked to not getting enough of the vitamin.

Not getting enough vitamin D is serious, and can lead to issues including kidney disease.

“So you can have really, really significant vitamin D deficiency that requires treatment, not just for supplementation,” Dr. Rupy said.

“Those are also related to kidney disease as well.

“Often, people who have kidney failure, have to have a whole range of different multivitamins, vitamin D Being one of the major ones, because that’s actually where a lot of the regulation happens.”

Dr. Rupy also discussed foods to eat to help reduce “cardiovascular disease, stroke, and diabetes”.

The health expert explained: “Inflammation is a universal concept that’s underlying a lot of ill health we see in Western society, things like cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity, all those things are underpinned by inflammation.

“So, if you can increase your consumption of ingredients that lower inflammation or increase balanced inflammation, that’s going to serve you well.”
