Call me a skeptic, but I don’t get super excited by a new moisturizer launch these days. I can realize they are happening, I can respect them, and I can even give them a go, but I have a somewhat set lineup on rotation and rarely let a newbie make an appearance more than two times.

But TULA never ceases to surprise me.

The always-solid brand is one I often recommend for anyone looking for some new skin care or a revise of their routine. Beside being insanely popular on Ulta—”wonderful” is the general consensus on the online reviews—the products consistently do what they say they’ll do, without being overly complicated or chaos for sensitive skin.

This week, the brand rolls out its new 24-7 Weightless Moisture Day & Night Gel Cream ($58) and it is, in a word, impressive.

The idea for the launch isn’t convoluted: It’s basically a new take on the brand’s popular moisturizer—only now in the form of a lightweight, pretty much “airy” gel-cream. “This product is absolutely wonderful!,” says one Ulta reviewer on the original. “I have fair and oily skin and many products I have tried in the past have been not great. But this I highly recommend. My skin feels so nice and refreshed. Also does well after makeup is applied over it.”

The brand describes the 2.0 version as “bouncy and fast-absorbing,” delivering “24-7 hydration, while leaving skin looking plump, smooth and radiant,” and those adjectives are being modest.

Besides doing that hard-to-do skin-care stuff like making your complexion looked “blurred” and pores look smaller, it’s also infused with encapsulated niacinamide, peptides and fun-sounding ingredients like apple and watermelon, which work together to hydrate, soften, soothe and nourish skin.

For me, it’s a moisturizer that is literally weightless, yet visibly hydrating. It’s also not oily, greasy or over-the-top shiny—a perfect combo for this 45-year-old acne-prone skin.
