When best friends team up, they create cool shit like Casamigos tequila, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and Stankonia. If you’re drag queens Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova, you create a makeup collection… and throw in some super cute merch with it, too.
The pair met on season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and have since gone on to co-host the web series UNHhhh, launch a podcast The Bald and the Beautiful, and co-write a book, Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood, which came out in 2020. Under the banner of Mattel’s namesake brand Trixie Cosmetics, the BFFs created Team Katya vs. Team Trixie, an Olympics-themed range that includes six new makeup products.
This isn’t their first makeup collaboration. In 2020, the two released the three-piece “Red Scare” collection, which included a lipstick, glitter, and gloss, all in shades of red. This time around, Trixie and Katya are offering 10 new items, six of which are makeup products. As the name suggests, the range is divided into two bundles, Team Katya and Team Trixie. Each includes a 12-pan eye shadow palette, matte bullet lipstick, and lip gloss. If you’re not into makeup, there’s also merch: Team Katya supporters can purchase a mirror ($26) or ringer T-shirt ($28). Fans of Team Trixie have the option of a duffel bag ($45) or ringer Tee ($28).
Both shadow palettes offer bright, saturated pigments, but they are completely different from pan to packaging. The Team Katya Palette ($48) has five shimmers and seven matte shadows, which you can see in the third photo of the Instagram carousel below. There are red, baby blue, hot pink, and neutral pigments in addition to a glittery gold. The shadows are packaged in a palette with lines of red, black, and white on the front. Katya’s name is written in a gold on top of the abstract background.

Team Trixie’s Palette ($48) packaging has a lighter color story with swirls of baby pink and pastel yellow on a light blue background. Trixie’s name is printed in a silver hue across the top. The pastel theme extends to the eye shadows, four of which are shimmers and eight that are matte. In the third slide of the below Instagram carousel, you can see light the blue, pink, and peach pigments alongside a few neutrals.

For the lips, Team Katya can choose between the Red Scare Matte Lipstick ($16) and Scarlet Letter Lip Gloss ($16). Both were actually a part of the first collaboration they did, so it seems appropriate they would be making a return. Red Scare Matte Lipstick is a bold, blue-based red color, while the Scarlet Letter Lip Gloss is more sheer. Team Trixie’s lip products are in the pink family. First is the Stacy Matte Lipstick ($16), which is also an old product from the brand. It’s a vibrant bubblegum pink hue. Lollipop Luxe Lip Gloss ($16) is a sheer hot pink. Combine the two for a pigmented glossy pink lip.
