[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] When I got sent the Sweed newness a few weeks ago, I got two mascaras – this one and the Cloud Mascara. I’ve only just got around to testing the Pro Lash Lift Mascara but gosh, I wish I’d got to it before! If you like lifted, spiky lashes, this one is for you.
When I first saw the brush for this mascara, I was immediately put off – it looks too spindly to do anything other than wipe the lashes with mascara and that generally doesn’t end well. I think I made the rookie error of not giving the brush a press on a tissue the very first time I used it (for some reason, the first use often gives way too much mascara so it’s a good tip to press the brush to a tissue or kitchen roll to just take that ‘first load’ off) and ended up with a bit too much on my upper lashes which I then had to use a spoolie to take off.
The skinniness of the brush means that you can go root to lash tip easily even if you’re not (like me) blessed with long lashes. According to the brand, the base third of our lashes never even see any mascara and I do feel that’s true – every time I see a big, fat brush I know it’s just going to skim over the lashes without doing any brushing per se and that the big brush can only get so near the base before leaving a line of mascara on my lids.
I haven’t even layered up with this – in the vague way that you can calculate a ‘coat’ of mascara (because we waft the wands several times and consider that a coat) I’d say it’s two coats but I could easily keep going to get more.
