[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m the first to say don’t spend all of your money on a cleanser that’s on your face only moments – the exception being cleansing balms, if you’re prepared to put the work in and really massage it into your skin. Even then, a budget cleansing balm will do the same job but I have found that the further up the scale you go with a cleansing balm, the more sensorial the experience is. So, I came to this duo cleanse (I really don’t believe in a double cleanse if you do it properly the first time around and am not sure how we got sucked into this mantra – there are exception days, such as heavy make up days when removal and cleansing goes on forever and others where it takes no time at all.. there is no rule!) with a brow already raised.

To be completely honest, the bottle is cumbersome – it’s not quite as streamlined in design as it needs to be and if they’re working on a redesign right now, it wouldn’t surprise me at all. On the plus, it’s refillable. On one side of the bottle, you have a gentle, Pro Vitamin B5 fuelled, creamy cleanser that’s fairly simple in construction but beautifully rich and tactile. It’s worth taking time to work it around your skin and feel it reach its full creamy potential before taking off with a cloth.

There are three variants of this cleansing system: Cleanse & Exfoliate, Cleanse & Clarify and Cleanse & Brighten. I’d immediately dismiss Cleanse & Brighten – cleansers don’t contribute to brightening imho because they’re not on the skin long enough. I tried the Cleanse & Exfoliate and I loved both versions. Exfoliate is a blend of physical and enzymatic exfoliators – I have scoured the ingredient list and cannot see what the tiny grains are but they are miniscule and create more of a lightly grainy feel than a scouring feel. The base for the enzymes and grains is just lovely – creamy and rich – and my skin felt exceptionally – and pleasingly – smooth after using it. It’s a shame that Exfoliate isn’t available separately – I’d buy it in a flash! Cleanse & Exfoliate is a good older skin option – the richness of the formula and the glow revealing exfoliation is spot on. The Duos are £32 HERE.
