Traditionally, getting rid of puffiness under your eyes the morning after a sleepless, wine-fueled night required spending at least 15 minutes lying under a cooling eye mask or massaging your face with an ice cube… and even then, it wasn’t always a perfect fix. But as one TikTok user discovered, the Peter Thomas Roth Instant FIRMx Eye Temporary Eye Tightener ($38) can make them totally disappear in three minutes flat—and the results are nothing short of jaw-dropping.

While some under-eye bags are genetic, most of the time they occur because fluid accumulates under your eyes to create a little “pooch,” says Mona Gohara, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Connecticut. To diminish that puffiness, she notes that your best bet is to turn to a product that will help to constrict the blood vessels underneath your eyelid skin, which is exactly what the Peter Thomas Roth serum does.

The formula boasts three proprietary ingredients that help immediately reduce puffiness and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There’s “Firm-A-Tite,” which helps to lift, firm and tighten skin; “Eyeliss,” a peptide trio that calms under-eye puffiness; and “Eye Regener,” which visibly diminishes the look of bags.

A deeper dive into the ingredient list tells us that it’s got palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, which helps reduce skin damage and inflammation; dipeptide-2, a small amino-acid peptide that’s able to permeate deeply into the skin to help with renewal and replenishment; ascorbic acid, one of the most potent forms of vitamin C that provides antioxidant protection and brightening; and retinyl palmitate, a vitamin A derivative that stimulates cell turnover and helps to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles.

“This product works immediately,” says Rachel Nazarian, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York City. “The ingredients create an invisible film that tightens as it dries, keeping skin looking smooth and firm…it’s a nice quick cheat for people with expression lines and bags.” But, she adds, the results are only temporary, so will only last for as long as the product stays on your skin, and moisture and makeup may dilute or inactivate it.

If TikTok user Trinidad1967 is to be believed, the formula really works to deliver immediate results.  In a recent viral video (which has garnered 3.2 million likes, and counting), she applied a light coating of the Peter Thomas Roth Instant Eye Tightener on top of one of her eye bags, and by the end of the one-minute clip, it was totally invisible. “It tightens and it stays like this all day,” she says.

For what it’s worth, she’ not the only one who’s sung the product’s praises. Reviewers have called it a “game-changer” and “pure magic,” and the before and after photos on the brand’s website are nothing short of awe-inducing. Plus, in a consumer study conducted by the brand on 25 women aged 35 to 65, 92 percent of participants agreed that their eye area appeared smoother and less puffy, and 88 percent found that the are looked tighter. Simply apply a thin coat on top of clean, dry, skin (Dr. Nazarian recommends remaining “expressionless” while the product dries), and those under-eye bags will be nothing but a faint memory.
