Matt Preston will star alongside Nigella Lawson in a reboot of Channel Seven’s My Kitchen Rules.

And on Sunday, The Daily Telegraph reported that the television cook had denied he felt ‘slighted’ by sharing the screen with the British chef.

Nigella’s role on the show is ‘effectively reducing his commitment by as much as half in the forthcoming 12th season of the show’ the paper claims, but sources for Seven deny he was upset by this development.

The shared role is reportedly a cost-cutting measure from Channel Seven, who have given Preston ‘overwhelmingly positive feedback’ for his role on the series.

Last month, Seven treated viewers to a brief glimpse of an excited Nigella getting out of a limousine alongside Manu Feildel for the new season in a promotional video.

The revamped series will also feature chefs Colin Fassnidge and Curtis Stone making guest appearances.

It was announced earlier this year that Nigella would feature on the new series, replacing former judge Pete Evans.

‘Going to restaurants can be a treat, but for me, the true story of food is told through the cooking we do at home,’ she said in a statement.

‘So, to have the chance to champion home cooks and be given the intimate privilege of being invited into people’s homes to eat their food fills me with gratitude and excitement in equal measure!

‘I’m so looking forward to working with Manu, too. Although he’s a chef and I’m a home cook, the fact is we both just want to eat good food.’

She added: ‘I feel I’ve got a lot to learn from him, but just know we’ll have a lot of fun in the process. I can’t wait!’

Speaking about his new co-star, Manu said he was ‘very excited’ to be returning to MKR, and ‘even more thrilled’ to be working alongside Nigella.
