Holly Willoughby has confessed she found it ‘tough’ being apart from her parents on Christmas Day last year due to the government mandated lockdown.

The TV presenter, 40, who resides in London, revealed she struggled even more with the separation since her sister Kelly, 42, was able to join their mum and dad under a different tier in Sussex.

She told The Mirror of her beloved Linda, 72, and Brian: ‘It was tough, we had never not had a Christmas Day together before.

‘There were parts of it that were lovely because I was with the family, but there is no doubt that I missed being with them as well.

‘You want to be with all of your family on Christmas Day and you revert to being a kid yourself, and I want to see my mum and dad, so to be with my mum and dad at ours this year will be lovely.’

Holly also admitted she wakes up at 5:30am on the big day, before enjoying a ‘posh’ breakfast with her family and hitting the booze.

Her routine sees her open presents with her husband Daniel Baldwin, 46, and their children Harry, 12, Belle, 10 and Chester, seven.

The kids soon throw together ‘honey or jam on toast cut into triangles’ while the adults enjoy ‘smoked salmon on toast and a glass of Buck’s Fizz’.

She told The Sun: ‘All three kids run in very early, at fever pitch level of excitement, with some of them having not slept all night.

‘My eldest had about an hour of sleep last year I think, so I’m hoping this year we will wake up slightly brighter than we did last year.

‘We have to try and stop ourselves from opening the tree presents before breakfast because we’re all up at about 5.30am.’

Meanwhile Phillip Schofield, 59, also enjoys a bottle of champagne at breakfast time with his ex wife Stephanie Lowe, 57, and their daughters Molly, 28, and Ruby, 25.
