George Michael documentary Freedom Uncut to tell the ‘complete story’ of late singer’s life
A new feature-length George Michael documentary, Freedom Uncut, is set to be released as a global cinema event this summer.
The late singer, who passed away on Christmas Day in 2016 aged just 53, was heavily involved in the project before his death and provided the narration for the film, which hits cinemas on June 22.
The documentary, released by Sony Music Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing, will give fans the ‘complete story’ of the pop icon and gives an in depth behind-the-scenes look at George’s tumultuous personal life away from the stage.

George Michael: Freedom Uncut, which is described as his ‘final work’, will explore an array of exclusive personal archival footage and chart the musician’s life following the release of his 1987 solo album Faith up to the making of and release of his 1990 follow-up album Listen Without Prejudice: Vol 1.
It will also take a look at the heartache suffered by the star over the loss of his first love Anselmo Feleppa – who died aged 36 from an AIDS-related illness – and the death of his beloved mother.
In addition, the posthumous release, directed by George and close friend David Austin, while also serve as a reminder of George’s incredible career, from his days in Wham! through to his solo career.

A plethora of stars from the world of music and showbiz feature in the documentary, with the likes of Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Nile Rogers and Liam Gallagher taking part.
While supermodels including Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz and Linda Evangelista also feature.
The official synopsis for the feature reads: ‘George offers up an open and honest look at the two sides of life; his very public journey in his music career and also his personal life, a side the cameras never truly saw.
