Gabrielle Union’s Gravity-Defying Afro Puff Is Literally Wrapped in Gold — See Photos

Both on and off the red carpet, Gabrielle Union consistently turns heads, breaks necks, and drops jaws with every new beauty look, both when she’s glammed up and keeping it more casual — and we’ve spent a good amount of time raving about some of our favorites. So when we saw the Cheaper by the Dozen star’s gold-wrapped Afro puff on the 2022 Gotham Awards red carpet, we knew she had debuted another hit style for curly-hair folks.

Union, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Performance, arrived at the event on November 28 in a black velvet gown with her curls slicked into a gravity-defying puff. Her hair was brushed into a high ponytail at the crown of her head without a single curl or coil out of place. Whatever hair gel or holding product her hairstylist used worked wonders to keep her puff and the lightly swooped baby hairs sleek and polished. A golden accessory was wrapped around the base of the textured puff, elevating the simple style for the glam event. 

Union’s makeup looked just as flawless as her hair. Her foundation was blended and sculpted with precision to make her high cheekbones even more defined. We loved the contrast between the smoked-out dark pigments on her outer eye and the shimmery silver on the lids.
