Whether you’re visiting someone’s house or trying on new footwear in a shoe shop, taking off your shoes can feel like a nightmare if you have smelly feet.
Smelly feet, medically known as bromodosis, are triggered by excessive sweating. The sweat then lures bacteria in, leading to bad odours.
Fortunately, bromodosis can be eliminated with the right care.
Emergency medical doctor, known as Dr Joe, has taken to his TikTok to reveal an “amazing” hack for tackling foot odour.
What’s more, the main ingredient in the home remedy is probably already in your kitchen cupboard.
Dr Joe recommended soaking your feet in black tea for 20 minutes to reduce the unpleasant odour.
He explained that a group of compounds found in tea, known as tannins, help kill bacteria and close pores, helping you to tackle the uncomfortable problem.
The doctor isn’t the only expert to recommend this simple home remedy for getting rid of smelly feet.
Foot and ankle specialists from Crystal Falls also back this. They recommend using two tea bags per pint of water to prepare the solution.
You should boil this tea and water mixture for 15 minutes, and then add two quarts of cool water, which is the equivalent of about 1.9 litres.
Once it’s ready, all that is left to do is to soak your feet in the cool solution for between 20 to 30 minutes.
