Cancer symptoms: Persistent, stomach or pelvic pain could indicate your risk

Persistent pain anywhere in your body that has no clear cause and doesn’t respond to standard treatments should be evaluated.

Approximately 25 to 50 percent of people with cancer complain of pain at the time of diagnosis, and up to 75 percent of people with cancer complain of pain as the cancer progresses.

The cancer itself often causes pain, said the American Cancer Society.

The health charity added: “The amount of pain you have depends on different factors, including the type of cancer, its stage (extent), other health problems you may have, and your pain threshold (tolerance for pain).

“People with advanced cancer are more likely to have pain.”
