I cannot remember the last time I wore a suit but I have both components of this very lightweight suit from last summer and in the limited ‘going out’ that I was doing at the time, either fitted the bill. A jacket is a t-shirt’s best friend – either with the suit bottoms or a pair of jeans and trainers …. in fact, my default outfit, a version of which I’m wearing today today for a launch. Uniqlo is very skilled with fabrics – you can literally throw this to the floor, sit on it or stuff it in a bag and it will still come out looking pristine. It washes like a dream – no iron needed, just hang it to dry – and it dries very quickly.
My jacket is black (obvs) but hmmm, now I am eyeing up the buff version. You can fold the sleeves up which plays right into my preference of 3/4 sleeve jackets (impossible to find but with this, easy to replicate) and gives some balance to the whole look if you are on the shorter side, which I am. In fact, the reason I’m doing this post and not the H&M spring things post I had planned is because the woman in the left of the top picture looks like my shape (a bit less curvy) and I remembered how much I like (and suit) this particular shape of jacket. I have the trousers too but from memory think I wore them less than the jacket but they’re just an easy win for the one single day of the year that jeans won’t do! The jacket is £59.90 HERE and comes in sizes XXS to XXL. The trousers are £34.90 and go up to a 32 in waist (XL) HERE.
Speaking of t-shirts, a plain white/black or white/red stripe is great for this look but I like a slogan or a graphic of some sort and Uniqlo’s Louvre collection looks perfect for just bringing something interesting to either the trousers, the jacket or both together.
I’ve put a little selection of Mango t-shirts together – they’d all look fabulous: the tiger is £15.99 HERE, the middle is £9.99 HERE and the tank top stripe is £17.99 HERE. Most go up to XL and the middle t-shirt goes to 4XL and comes in various designs.
