Top 5 Techniques To Stay hydrated While Working From Home

0

Over the last eighteen months, there has been a massive increase in the number of people working from home. Of course, this is largely a result of COVID-19. However, it seems likely that more people will work from home after the pandemic than used to.

This can be beneficial in many ways. However, one of the biggest issues faces many people working from home is staying hydrated. It is simply too easy to become absorbed by what you are doing and forget to take breaks or drink enough.

The good news is there are five simple but effective techniques that can help you to stay hydrated and make the most of your day. Don’t forget that hydration improves focus and productivity.

1. Get A Water Dispenser

Most offices have water coolers or a water dispenser that allows you to grab fresh, cold water at anytime you want. Let’s face it, cold water always tastes better than water at room temperature! You probably don’t have a water dispenser at home, but it is time you considered getting one.

They are surprisingly affordable, extremely practical, and will help you to drink more water. You can even include a filter into the system, allowing you to remove contaminants. You’ll notice a difference in the taste.

2. Keep A Water Bottle With You

Of course, getting a water dispenser doesn’t mean it will be sat next to your desk. In all probability it will be in the kitchen as this is the easiest place to plumb it in and the entire family can use it;

To help ensure you drink enough, get a reusable water bottle and fill it from your dispenser. You can then keep this on your desk and sip it at regular intervals.

Just make sure you use a reusable water bottle as standard plastic bottles can leach harmful chemicals into the water over time.

3. Set An Alarm

If you need a little more prompting then set an alarm or event on your phone. It should be set to remind you every 30 minutes. The moment the alarm goes off you take a sip of your water. That’s it!

Before long this will become a habit and you won’t need an alarm.

4. Add Flavoring

Of course, no matter how much you love water and want to stay hydrated, it can get a little boring drinking the same thing over and over again.

You can mix it up by adding some fruit to your water. The fruit can be chopped and placed in your water bottle or in a jug on your desk. By adding fruit to the water it will infuse the water, giving it a gentle taste of the fruit.

It’s a great way to change the flavor without adding lots of sugar. Ensuring you get all the hydration you need.

5. Other Liquids

Don’t forget that you can get water and liquid from food, as well as other drinks. Avoid anything that dehydrates and eat healthy, hydrating foods. You’ll find this helps.
