If you told me even three months ago that I’d find a pain-free storage solution for my flock of cleansers, palettes, body scrubs, and much more, I would’ve chuckled in disbelief. As a beauty editor who always has a steady supply of incoming products for testing, I’ve tried just about every conceivable option to keep my overflowing collection of products neat and tidy—from stackable bins to flimsy pull-out drawers—all to no avail. When I was about 0.2 seconds away from tossing things into a few garbage bags and giving up all together, I was fortunate enough to discover the streamlined perfection of the Yamazaki Home Steel Three-Tier Storage Rack.
Unlike clunkier methods I’ve used in the past that either looked straight-up fugly or took up too much space, this wood and steel rack is minimal and modern, like pretty much everything you’ll find from the beloved Japanese organization brand. Assembling it was simple: Just the twist of a few screws and a little patience were all I needed to pull the structure together. The rack has three storage levels with customizable heights, plus handy side hooks for extras like my shower cap and satin bonnet. It also has a slim wooden bar attached to the top tier that’s as attractive as it is functional and has become my go-to location to hang my post-shower PJs and loungewear.
Since the rack provides open storage on all sides, it’s easy to add internal bins (like these gems from The Container Store) to maximize space and hide clutter. The rack easily houses all of my beauty everything, from oversize bottles and jars to beauty tools like my blow-dryer and flat iron. I love how its modern, bare-bones design quietly enhances my space instead of sticking out like the plastic bins I used before. This tucks nicely in the corner of my bathroom next to the sink without competing with the rest of my décor.
At $145, this rack isn’t exactly cheap, but for me it’s a worthwhile investment and would be for anyone looking to keep their products readily accessible and beautifully organized. And since it’s made with quality materials that are built to last—a solid steel frame and a wooden handle—it will be easy to repurpose the rack as an entryway or bar cart in the future (our senior commerce editor uses hers as a kitchen cart)…Once I figure out how to pare down my beauty collection, that is.
Editor’s note: The Yamazaki Home Steel Three-Tier Storage Rack is currently backordered and out of stock most places (it’s popular!), but we’ve listed some similar storage options below.
