The product has a ton of hype, all of which is warranted. Not only does it help with setting your makeup and keeping your skin moisturized in the process, but it’s also designed to give your skin a natural, healthy glow and help keep skin elastic and supple. The latter of which it does through the brand’s signature formulation of green tea, rice and algae. Together, these ingredients work to help promote cell turnover and strength your skin’s moisture barrier.
Plus, there aren’t many rules on how to use it. For example, you can spritz a few pumps on your face post-makeup application to give skin more sheen (which can be nice if your foundation is more on the matte side, or you’re using a setting powder that takes away some of your natural dewyness), or you can use it as a pick-me-up for your bare skin on the days when you want to go au naturel.
It’s so lightweight, you can usually give your face a few spritzes without your skin feeling super wet (or leaving behind a weird, or sticky residue). The mist is very subtle, and evaporates immediately into your skin. By comparison, the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (which I swear by to keep my makeup in place) has bigger droplets that take a couple seconds to set and fully absorb into your skin. In regard to its dewiness and hydration claims, it does hold up nicely. For example, when I applied the mist to my bare skin in the morning, my face felt softer and looked slightly brighter over the course of several days. Though to be fair, I did apply this in tandem with chemical exfoliants, which tend to naturally soften skin and balance uneven texture. And while the solution did feel a lot lighter than toners I’m used to wearing on a daily basis, my skin stayed hydrated all day long, thanks to the the squalane and silk extract.
