Purple (Light) (2021)
Sydney Grace Purple (Light) (2021) Mystery Bag (2021) ($30.00) includes five new eyeshadows and one highlighter that you’ll find in all of the Purple (Light) mystery bags, plus two to three additional items that may vary from bag to bag. In the bag I have, my additional products were: Amber Jewels eyeshadow (from Autumn’s Reign) and Flower Crown (new blush).
The quality was consistent with the brand’s formulas overall with a couple of the mattes having more semi-opaque, but buildable coverage, but were easy to work with and longer-wearing. The blush/highlighter were both pigmented, blendable, and longer-wearing.
The following shades are found in both the Light and Deep versions of the Purple mystery bag: Amethyst, Ethereal, Lovely Lavender, and Sweet Jubilee.
Amethyst
Amethyst is a bright, medium purple with warm, pink undertones and a smooth, metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a moderately dense, lightly creamy consistency that picked up well with a dry brush and had good adhesion to bare skin. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.
Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn’t have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Lovely Lavender
Lovely Lavender is a medium-dark purple with subtle, warm undertones and a smooth, metallic finish. It had an incredibly cream-like texture that was dense, smooth, but had good slip and adhered well to bare skin without looking thick. It had full color payoff that lasted well for nine hours before fading visibly.

Lilac Daydream
Lilac Daydream is a medium pink with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation paired with a soft, lightly powdery texture that was blendable but slightly thinner than other mattes from the brand. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren’t opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn’t so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I’ve found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Sweet Jubilee
Sweet Jubilee is a medium-dark plum with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with a little more product. The texture was soft, lightly powdery but not prone to sheering out too readily nor having fallout. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Ethereal
Ethereal is a smoky plum with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It had a slightly thinner, firmer consistency, though by no means actually firm or stiff to work with, but it took a little more effort to blend than the usually effortless standard of this formula. It had mostly opaque, buildable color payoff that lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Amber Jewels
Amber Jewels is a medium-dark red with soft, warm undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation that applied well to bare skin and blended out with little effort. The texture was moderately dense, smooth, and lightly creamy without being too thick, which helped it adhere well to bare skin but wasn’t difficult to pick up with a dry brush. It showed signs of fading after eight and a half hours of wear.

Majestic is a light pink with subtle, cool undertones and a bright, metallic finish. The texture was moderately dense, smooth, and almost cream-like, but it wasn’t too thick or too heavy, so it picked up well with a dry brush and blended out beautifully over bare skin. It was richly pigmented were a little went a long way. This shade stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

The highlighters are supposed to be “smooth and pigmented” that “blend like a dream” and “last all day long.” The majority of the shades in the range are incredibly pigmented with a creaminess to the texture that makes them a cinch to apply and blend out on my skin.
I was most impressed by how soft, almost cream-like the powders were, yet they weren’t too loosely-pressed nor were they prone to powderiness. Some of the finishes are very metallic or frosted, so when worn at semi-opaque or higher coverage levels, they can emphasize my skin’s natural texture slightly. They have worn between eight and nine hours on me.

It’s a more pigmented blush, so it favors those who need or want richer coverage achieved with less product or in one layer, but those who prefer sheerer, more buildable blush may find there is a learning curve. The formula was very blendable and easy to work with, so I think it is more forgiving, particularly shades with some shimmer in them. The matte shades can be slightly powdery but do not look dry or dusty when applied, though they can darken a bit if not applied over drier or more matte skin (or a base). They wore between eight and 10 hours on me before fading noticeably.
