Sydney Grace Be Mine (Light) Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

0

Be Mine (Light)

Sydney Grace Be Mine (Light) Eyeshadow Palette ($52.00 for 0.95 oz.) is a new, permanent eyeshadow palette that includes 15 shades spread across seven matte shades and eight shimmer shades. The palette is available in a Light and Deep version with six shades being adjusted to work better on Lighter vs. Darker skin tones. You’ll see these shades indicated by “(Light)” after the shade name, and I have provided a verbal description of the difference along with a side-by-side swatch comparison.

For those who like more neutral-to-warm, slightly muted neutral eyeshadows that lean a little pink, it would be a nice option to pick up and is consistent with the brand’s high quality formulas.

Smooch (Light)

Smooch (Light) is a light, golden brown with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage with a smooth, velvety texture that wasn’t powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

It is significantly lighter, brighter, and less warm-toned than the Deep version.

Formula Overview

$6.00/0.06 oz. – $100.00 Per Ounce

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn’t have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

All Mine (Light)

All Mine (Light) is a light beige with subtle, warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy and moderately dense feel that I had no trouble picking up with a dry brush. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

It is lighter, more golden and better in quality (not as firmly-pressed) as the Deep version.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren’t opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn’t so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I’ve found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Baby Cakes is a light-medium olive gold with muted, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color payoff was opaque, while the consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and moderately dense without being too firmly packed into the pan. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Love Me (Light)

Love Me (Light) is a medium-dark taupe-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was slightly more firmly-pressed and thinner compared to most of the brand’s mattes, which I did find was more prone to darkening if I wasn’t careful. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

It was lighter and grayer compared to the Deep version.

Romance

Romance is a deep taupe-brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a slightly firmer texture, which meant it was easier to use as a buildable matte than something packed on. It wore well for eight hours on me before showing signs of fading.

Formula Overview

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren’t opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn’t so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I’ve found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

PiPPermanent in Palette. $5.00.

Cupid

Cupid is a medium, pinky-plum with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The texture was slightly dense, lightly emollient, and blendable without being difficult to pick up with a dry brush. It had opaque color payoff that stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Crush on You is a deep, golden olive with more of a black base and a metallic finish. Eye Candy

Eye Candy is a deep olive green with muted, warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-like texture to the touch, but it was dense and firm enough not to be powdery but still blended out with ease. It lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Smitten

Smitten is a medium-dark, warmer black with a slightly sparkle throughout its metallic finish. It was denser and thicker compared to most of the brand’s eyeshadows, which may have been to help the more noticeable sparkles bind with the underlying product, but it did require a heavier handed approach to pick up product evenly. This shade wore nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing.
