There are so many reasons to watch award shows, and for us, we have to admit, the least of those reasons is to find out who actually wins. We love a great movie or TV show as much as the next person, but professionally, we’re really in this for the aesthetics — the hair, the makeup, the fashion. And if a trend clearly emerges, even better. Such was the case with the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards: So many stars matched their eye makeup to their outfits.

Yes, several trends appeared to be burgeoning on the SAG Awards red carpet — shorter nails, loose waves, and ever so much pink — but the clearest new movement in makeup is to correspond your lids and liner to your clothing. And honestly, this is a trend we can fully get behind because it takes the guesswork out of figuring out if your makeup “goes with” your outfit.
