Intellihealth appoints executive VP of clinical operations and more digital health hires

Obesity-focused healthcare technology company Intellihealth has hired Annie Lorenzo as its executive vice president of clinical operations.

She will manage the clinical operations personnel at Intellihealth’s clinical services affiliate, Flyte Medical.

Flyte offers users access to metabolic health specialists, including nurse practitioners, physicians and registered dietitians focused on providing obesity care through Evolve, Intellihealth’s digital health platform.

Lorenzo was previously vice president of professional services at digital respiratory health company Propeller Health. She also was vice president of business development and operations at Higi, maker of health-checking kiosks found in grocery stores and pharmacies.

She was vice president of U.S. clinical operations at now-defunct London-based multinational digital health firm Babylon following Babylon’s acquisition of Higi. She was director of operations at CirrusMD and vice president of sales operations at MDLive.

“We are delighted to welcome Annie to the Intellihealth team,” Sloan Saunders, Intellihealth CEO, said in a statement. “Her broad experience managing clinical operations and telehealth care delivery across multiple businesses will be a tremendous asset to us as we optimize and scale Flyte to meet the rapidly growing demand for obesity treatment.”

Healthcare technology company athenahealth announced the appointment of David Minkin as general manager of the company’s digital clinical decision support subsidiary, epocrates.

athenahealth, a provider of cloud-based EHR and practice management software, acquired epocrates, a mobile medical app provider, for about $293 million in cash in 2013.

Minkin previously worked at Dow Jones / News Corp and, at athenahealth, will oversee epocrates strategy, growth and operations.

“epocrates cures healthcare complexity for clinicians, enabling them to make the best decisions for their patients by delivering critical and verified information at the point of care,” Bob Segert, chairman and chief executive officer of athenahealth, said in a statement.

“David’s leadership, passion, and experience bringing insights from more than two decades in publishing to expand the value epocrates delivers to its users – from medical schools to ambulatory groups to leading hospital systems – made him an ideal candidate to lead the team. I look forward to working with him and the rest of the epocrates team as we continue to engage the platform’s users to meet the needs of clinicians as they deliver effective care at scale.”
