I’m A Celebrity’s Frankie Bridge chats pressure to win, trial fears, weight loss and shower nudity

She was revealed to be odds-on favourite to win I’m A Celebrity, before the official line-up had even been confirmed.

And speaking ahead of her time in camp, Frankie Bridge laughed off the pressure to become Queen of The Castle, joking: ‘I was favourite for Strictly and I didn’t win that!’ after her 2014 stint on the BBC dancing show where she took second place.

The Saturdays singer, 32, also discussed how she’ll cope with potential weight loss, which trials she fears the most, and her views on shower nudity, as she noted: ‘we’re gonna be getting very close and friendly very quickly!’

Pressure? Frankie Bridge, 32, laughed off the pressure to become Queen of The Castle after it was revealed she was odds-on favourite to win I’m A Celebrity

Asked how she felt about the favourite to win I’m A Celeb, Frankie admitted: ‘I don’t really like that. It adds a bit of pressure but it doesn’t really mean anything.

‘People go in that you might not know, and that’s the whole point of the show – you get to know people in weird situations. You don’t know how people are gonna feel about you.

‘I feel more pressure from friends and family. Plus, I was favourite for Strictly and I certainly didn’t win that!’ laughed the star.

Chatting about the outdoor shower situation, Frankie admitted: ‘I prefer it to the one in Australia, because we’ve got curtains so it’s a little bit more private.

‘I’ve never had a shower that’s a joint effort before so we’re gonna be getting very close and friendly very quickly. Having a shower is gonna be an event at this point!’

With a basic died of rice and beans, campmates often lose drastic amounts of weight during their time on I’m A Celebrity.

Asked if she’s worried about potential weight loss, Frankie admitted: ‘I haven’t really thought about that side. Everyone does seem to [lose weight]. I’m more worried about being hungry.

Christmas will be fun! Asked if she's worried about potential weight loss, Frankie quipped: 'I'll have missed out on mince pie time, so I'm sure I'll make up for it when I get out!'

‘It’s all in the lead up to Christmas and I’ll have missed out on mince pie time, so I’m sure I’ll make up for it when I get out!’

Discussing her fears ahead of the show, the TV personality confessed: ‘Part of me is like “I’m a fussy bland eater” – rice and beans aren’t stressing me out, but I’m terrified of the eating trials.

‘I hate being sick. If I have to swallow something that’s hard to swallow I don’t know how I’ll cope.’

Frankie’s husband, footballer Wayne Bridge, took part in I’m A Celebrity in 2016 and was the 8th campmate to be eliminated.

The Saturdays singer revealed that in preparation for her stint, he attempted to teach her how to light a fire, but ultimately was unsuccessful.

She explained: ‘It’s so annoying because he did Australia and it’s a completely different kettle of fish.

‘He’s tried to teach me how to light a fire because I’m useless and we’ve got a fire we’re I’m staying. But in the end I’ve given up and put on my coat and uggs on. He’s like “I can’t understand how you can’t keep it alight”.

‘He’s just said “enjoy it”. He loved it he’s wanted me to do it since he did it. I just wanna get to the cyclone because he didn’t get to do it!’

Asked what their children – sons Parker, 8, and Carter, 6 – think about her taking part in I’m A Celebrity, Frankie admitted they’re finding it ‘hard to get their head around.’

She elaborated: ‘My eldest can’t wait to see me do scary things and be with bugs and animals. My youngest is worried about me because he knows I’m scared of everything.

‘I think watching the show they’ll think its funny. They’re getting to the age where they’re quite proud of things I do ,so I think they’ll be quite proud of me.’

Reassured: Frankie also noted how the show being in Wales makes her feel more secure, saying: 'As a parent I'm a car drive away rather than being on the other side of the world'

The TV star also asserted that ‘being a mum does teach you patience’ – a skill she can take into the camp with her.

She added: I like to think I’m a patient person any way. If someone annoys me I’ll go away and do a chat.

‘But also being on your own for so long [quarantined ahead of the show] and seeing humans and being able to hug them is gonna be amazing.’

Frankie also noted how the show being in Wales makes her feel more secure, saying: ‘As a parent I’m a car drive away rather than being on the other side of the world if I needed to get home for any reason.’

Frankie also admitted that that her Loose Women co-stars guessed that she was going into I’m A Celebrity and insisted: ‘It’s hard to keep a secret from your friends!’

She said: ‘It [I’m A Celeb] came up on the show. I just said I get rumoured every year, so it was easy to get out of, but I think they guessed I was going in.’

The singer also explained how her time on the chat show has helped prepare her for the castle, saying: ‘I’m not confrontational at all – I hate it! Loose Women will have helped. I love listening to others’ opinions whether I like those opinions or not.

‘I’m used to stronger opinions and stronger personalities than mine, and in that way it will make it easier to deal with.

‘But it’s different being on an hour-long show with women you love, than being with strangers tired and hungry and missing home. It’s hard to know how I’ll deal with that. I’ll probably flare my nostrils all over TV!’

Frankie also wasn’t allowed to tell her Saturdays bandmates, and relayed how excited they were for her after she lead the I’m A Celeb line-up rumours.

She said: ‘They’re really excited. A couple text me when they heard the rumours, but they think it’s hilarious because I’m scared of everything and I’m such a fussy eater!’

The TV personality insisted that she will do her best, saying: ‘I’m determined. I’m not competitive with other people. I’d hate to go into a trial and not try my hardest to win stars and meals for the camp. The shame of saying “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here” would be too much!’

Asked if she has any habits which Wayne finds annoying that might irk her campmakes, Frankie confessed: ‘I’m not very good at doing the dishwasher, Wayne always says. So I’m wondering if the cleaning of the plates and stuff.

‘Maybe my cooking skills will annoy everyone – I’m not very adventurous. I won’t know where to begin with cooking something random. People might get frustrated with that.’
