Britney Spears has been in the news a lot this year, and her fans have rallied around her like never before to support and celebrate the superstar as she fights for her independence and happiness. One of her biggest fans just happens to be another famous face, Hailey Bieber, and the supermodel paid tribute to the pop icon with a series of spot-on Halloween costumes that will be hard to beat in years to come.
Over the weekend, as celebrities’ costumes poured onto Instagram, Bieber stopped everyone in their scrolling tracks with an image carousel featuring not one, not two, but four incredible costumes replicating famous Britney Spears moments. “Happy Halloweekend ???? the first concert I ever went to was the queen @britneyspears and I’ve been shook ever since ????????????????????????????????????????,” she wrote in the caption — and now everyone else is shook upon seeing how perfectly Bieber nailed these historic looks.
First, Bieber dressed up the way most of us were introduced to Britney Spears: in the “Baby One More Time” schoolgirl outfit. She posted two photos and a quick video clip in which she’s wearing the gray cardigan, tied-up white button-down shirt, and, of course, pigtail braids topped off with puffy pink feather hair ties.
Next, Bieber donned the super long, sleek extensions and shiny red catsuit that instantly recognizable from Spears’s “Oops! I Did It Again” video. She even got the frosty eye shadow down pat.
This look was followed up by a perfect recreation of Spears’s first Rolling Stone cover from 1999, in which she’s lounging with her long hair — complete with bangs — spread out on hot pink satin sheets, wearing a black bra and polka-dot boyshorts while holding a telephone and snuggling a Teletubby doll. She only posted one shot of this look, but it’s so similar to the original cover that there was simply no need for another photo.
And finally, Bieber shared two photos and a clip in which she’s wearing the look from Spears’s “I’m a Slave 4 U” video — the unforgettable magenta number with the flowy arm band and bikini bottom over leather pants. She got the sultry, sweaty makeup look so right, and her shaggy blonde hair could not be more on-point.
The accuracy of each look is truly uncanny, not to mention a truly fitting tribute. The only detail that separates Bieber’s costumes from the original looks is her black and neon manicure seen in each shot. But we can look past that considering how otherwise absolutely perfect her collection of Britney Spears costumes came out.
