Yes, you heard that right: always-trending skin-care brand First Aid Beauty—it’s famous for its Ultra Repair Cream ($36)—is expanding into hair care. And, just like the iconic cream, the line’s two debut products offer everything needed for treating dryness and irritation, this time of the scalp.
“First Aid Beauty has been focused on the health of your skin for more than a decade, creating clean, effective products that target your skin concerns and feel good to use,” says founder and CEO of First Aid Beauty Lilli Gordon in a release. “We are excited to extend our problem-solving skincare to the scalp and deliver a dandruff shampoo that looks, feels and smells luxurious and a dandruff serum that won’t interfere with your style.”
Launched today, the product duo is intended to work in tandem for best results.
Step one: Anti-Dandruff Shampoo with 1% Pyrithione Zinc ($30)
To fight flakes and soothe an itchy scalp without adding to preexisting summertime oiliness, reach for this shampoo—it’s filled with silk peptides to strengthen and moisturize, calendula to fight signs of distress, vitamin E and pyrithione zinc to combat flakes and irritation. Shake well and apply to the scalp in circular motions before allowing the formula to sink in for a few minutes. Then, follow with your favorite moisturizing conditioner.
It may be the brand’s first hair-care launch, but this product is no joke: In a consumer-perception study with 51 participants, 85-percent reported this product helped eliminate the look of their dandruff flakes within 10 days.
Step two: Anti-Dandruff Scalp Serum ($32)
While visible flakes are quickly removed by the Shampoo, preventing scalp dryness from reoccurring is also essential, which is where this serum comes in. Included in the formula: 2-percent salicylic acid to purify the scalp, aloe to calm and nourish, colloidal oatmeal to relieve dry skin and charcoal powder to detoxify and draw out impurities. To use, shake well, part the hair in sections and apply the serum directly onto wet or dry hair, focusing on the scalp. Leave on and do not rinse out.
