Dior Rouge Dior Natural Balm

[unpaid/sample] The new Rouge Dior Natural Balm is very different to my expectations – for some reason I thought it would be glossier and more juicy like my favourite Gucci Rene Pink Balm. But, I know very well that juicy is not what many are looking for in their balms. They want a protective shield with a dot of colour that feels comfortable and at home on the lip and that’s exactly what Rouge Dior Natural Balm is!

Rouge Dior Natural Balm

Dior has introduced a matte balm and it’s not something I think I’ve used before. At least, if I have, it hasn’t stayed in my memory. And, to be honest, I think I’d always go satin or juicy in preference – I’m sure it’s down to the fact that I am so used to juicy or loose balm textures that matte feels very strange indeed. But, what a bonus for anyone who loves a matte lipstick and wants something nourishing underneath it – the two pair as well together as champagne and caviar.

Dior has more or less kicked shine into touch. The textures available are satin, matte and velvet which is unusual for a balm formula. The ‘natural’ label comes from the floral complex – pomegranate flower, fig blossom and red hibiscus and in its entirety, the balms are composed of 95% natural origin ingredients. They’re also refillable.

The shade range is firmly in the neutral camp – there are no brights in the collection as yet although I am sure that palette is yet to come. These balms work very nicely as a primer or undercoat for the lips as well as providing a natural looking finish to the lips if wearing alone. I noticed that my lips felt extremely smooth while (and after) wearing which makes me feel more comfortable about the £33 price tag. They do feel as though they’re doing a nourishing job.

In the swatch above, it’s shade 772 Rosewood shade (very pretty), 100 Light Nude and 200 Terra Bella which is matte. The other two are satin. These are spot on for the less-is-more trend that we adopted over lockdown and haven’t quite got back to rainbows yet. They’re HERE.
