Celebrities Who Have Gotten a Thread Lift

0

There is a lot of speculation on which celebrities have tried the noninvasive thread lift treatment, the procedure that involves absorbable sutures that are “threaded” through the skin and tightened to provide a subtle lift. Not to be confused with a facelift, it’s going to give minimal improvement, and doctors say you’ll need to go back in for maintenance as often as fillers.

Some aesthetic experts love them, like Delray Beach, FL dermatologist Dr. Janet Allenby who says they’re great for patients who aren’t ready for a facelift yet. “I often use the threads in combination with other treatments like fillers. They do have a finite longevity to them, which can be disappointing for some people,” she says.

Other facial experts caution patients against doing too many thread treatments over time. “I personally don’t do thread lifts because the path of the suture that grabs the dermal layer, or the part underneath the surface of the skin, tends to get scared,” explains Chicago facial plastic surgeon Michael Byun, MD. “I find it causes the dermal layer of the skin to age irregularly and can cause ripples,” he notes.

Whatever the pros and cons of temporary threads may be, celebrities seem to love them. Here, the top A-listers who have gone on recored for endorsing this temporary thread lift and seem to be happy with their results.

Eva Mendez

Eva Mendez made headlines in late 2020 when she shared an image via her Instagram of a thread lift procedure happening in real time. With seven threads implanted in her lower face and jawline, the 46-year-old star did not shy away from revealing she was getting a little lift from a “mono-threading” procedure while complementing Dr. Marina Vergara’s Beverly Hills Spa. “A home where you can relax while being tortured by the best of the best. This is my happy place!,” she wrote of her experience.

Huda Kattan

In 2019 beauty influencer and brand founder Huda Kattan shared that she had a thread lift to the lower face on her blog. “What’s great about thread lifts is they’re super quick, not too painful, and the results last for years,” she wrote. A big selling point? They’re ability to tighten in areas that were bothering her the most. “You can literally do thread lifting anywhere, and I think my fave way to use it is to tighten the skin at the jaw. Using threads along the jawline is ideal if the skin here starts to sag, as it really lifts and tightens the skin,” said 38-year-old Kattan.”

Sarah Ferguson

Not yet ready for a full facelift, Sarah Ferguson the Dutchess of York said that after trying neurotoxins, fillers and mesotherapy, her doctor recommended a thread lift to stimulate collagen. “It’s like garden trellising for sweet peas,” the 62-year-old Duchess told the Daily Mail. “You insert the threads under the skin with a fine needle and they hold everything up. They also encourage collagen production. It takes a couple of months, then the sweet peas bloom! Before I had it done, I thought, ‘Oh this is going to be painful’ but it wasn’t bad. My skin responded well. I think if you look at photos of me after I had it done, I look much better,” she said about the treatment.

Kelly Dodd

Along with her Real Housewives of Orange County costars Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Shannon Beador, former housewife Kelly Dodd once confessed to undergoing threads on Watch What Happens Live when asked by Andy Cohen if she’d ever tried them before. “I got threads done,” revealed the 46-year-old reality star. She shared on the show that she had three threads added to one side of her face and two on the other side. “I could’ve gotten more I think, but I didn’t want to be pulled back too much,” she explained.

Simon Cowell

In early 2018, Simon Cowell admitted to the Sun on Sunday newspaper that he had recently had a little work done. Remarking that it, “hurt like hell,” the 62-year-old reality show judge explained that he underwent a nonsurgical ‘sewing bioplastic-infused thread” facelift. “There’s lots of things you can do now. You don’t just have to stuff your face with filler and Botox. It hurts like hell, but it gets rid of sun damage and unplugs all the crap,” he explained.

Maybe: Gwyneth Paltrow

Known for her “clean” approach to everything from food and fitness to sexual wellness, it’s no wonder Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow endorsed thread lifts all the way back in 2015, when the absorbable sutures were making a comeback from their more cumbersome predecessors that harken back to 1980s. Newer threads are now a little more sophisticated than their previous incarnation and Paltrow was an early adopter of version two. While the star has admitted to Xeomin neurotoxin injections, chemical peels, Thermage skin tightening and laser treatments, her Goop thumbs up on thread lifts have a lot of speculators believing she herself has tried the treatment, which makes sense for the 49-year-old holistic star, as it stimulates the body’s own collagen response.
