Ram Mandir: As the ceremony unfolded and the temple became a focal point for devotees, the employment boom was poised to contribute to the sustained growth of the hospitality sector throughout the year

The ceremony at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir on January 22, a momentous occasion for spiritual and cultural reasons, has left a lasting impact by acting as a catalyst for substantial job creation. This auspicious event has not only fulfilled its religious significance but has also driven a surge in the hospitality, travel, and tourism sectors, presenting a remarkable opportunity for employment in the region.

With a daily influx of devotees in the lakhs anticipated, the event was expected to generate approximately 20,000 to 25,000 permanent and temporary positions in various roles within the industry. This surge in job opportunities spanned a spectrum of positions, including hotel staff, cooks, servers, and drivers, reflecting the broad impact on the employment landscape.

Rikant Pittie, Co-Founder, EaseMyTrip, highlighted the positive outlook for job creation in the industry. He noted, “This event presented a great opportunity for the industry. The expected daily footfall of devotees in the lakhs led to a substantial surge in job opportunities, ranging from permanent to temporary positions.”

Over the past six months, at least 10,000 to 20,000 jobs were created in various roles related to hospitality, travel, and tourism. The surge in job creation was expected to continue as projections indicated a significant number of visitors to the Ayodhya temple in the coming years. If 2-3 lakh people visited the temple daily, there would be an increased demand for manpower to cater to stay, logistics, and food requirements.

Balasubramanian A, Vice President, TeamLease Services, provided insights into the potential for ongoing job opportunities. He mentioned, “The typical ratio of manpower demand in the hospitality industry is between 1-2 staff for every 100 customers. This meant more jobs were up for grabs down the year as the hospitality sector continued to experience growth.”

In-demand roles included hotel staff, housekeeping, front-desk management, chefs, and multi-lingual tour guides, showcasing the diverse employment avenues arising from this significant event. As the ceremony unfolded and the temple became a focal point for devotees, the employment boom was poised to contribute to the sustained growth of the hospitality sector throughout the year. The Ram Mandir ceremony was not only a moment of cultural significance but also a driving force behind economic prosperity and employment opportunities in the region.
