Brooklyn Ross, newsreader for the enormously popular Kyle and Jackie O show, has come out against Scott Morrison‘s climate policy ahead of the federal election.

The 32-year-old made the remarks this week, while making an appearance on Channel Seven’s The Latest News.

Asked by host Angela Cox whether he supported the actions of climate change protesters who have caused public disruptions recently, Brooklyn said: ‘They have a point.’

Controversial: Brooklyn Ross (pictured on Instagram), newsreader for the enormously popular Kyle and Jackie O show, has come out against Scott Morrison’s climate policy ahead of the federal election during an appearance on Channel Seven’s The Latest News 

He added: ‘Australia is a bit of an international embarrassment when it comes to climate change.’

‘I thought we would be hearing more about climate change in this election – which we are not really.’

He went onto indicate that he was sceptical about Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s promise to take Australia to a carbon neutral state by 2050.

‘We’ve still got long way to go until we get to net zero,’ he said, ‘I’d like to hear the plans.’

The KIIS FM radio star said that there was a lot of hate out in the community for climate change protesters this past week.

Holding his hand up for the cameras he said: ‘I’m going to be the one to stand up for them.’

Brooklyn appeared in the news program with journalist Caroline Overington.

Later in the segment they were both asked to comment about Warner Bros. decision to snip out six seconds from the latest film in the Harry Potter franchise before its release in China.

Warner Bros. the producers of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore were pressured by Beijing to remove dialogue that revealed one of the main characters was homosexual.

Brooklyn, who is openly gay, admitted he had not seen the film, said: ‘It’s just a decision to make money, isn’t it?’
