Be Mine (Deep)

Sydney Grace Be Mine (Deep) Eyeshadow Palette ($52.00 for 0.95 oz.) is a new, permanent eyeshadow palette that includes 15 shades spread across seven matte shades and eight shimmer shades. The palette is available in a Light and Deep version with six shades being adjusted to work better on Lighter vs. Darker skin tones. You’ll see these shades indicated by “(Deep)” after the shade name, and I have provided a verbal description of the difference along with a side-by-side swatch comparison.

For those who like more neutral-to-warm, slightly muted neutral eyeshadows that lean a little pink, it would be a nice option to pick up and is consistent with the brand’s high quality formulas.

Sydney Grace Smooch (Deep) Pressed Pigment Shadow

Smooch (Deep)

Smooch (Deep) is a medium-dark golden pewter with warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich color payoff that yielded a smooth, even application. The texture was smooth, dense but not overly firm or too thick, and cream-like. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

It is significantly darker, richer, and more golden than the Light version (they’re not similar at all).

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn’t have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

All Mine (Deep)

All Mine (Deep) is a light-medium, caramel brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft, fairly blendable texture but was a little more firmly-pressed than ideal. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading visibly on my skin.

It is darker, more reddish and slightly lower in quality (more firmly-pressed) compared to the Light version.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren’t opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn’t so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I’ve found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Baby Cakes

Baby Cakes is a light-medium olive gold with muted, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color payoff was opaque, while the consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and moderately dense without being too firmly packed into the pan. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Romance is a deep taupe-brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a slightly firmer texture, which meant it was easier to use as a buildable matte than something packed on. It wore well for eight hours on me before showing signs of fading.

Soul Mates (Deep) is a medium-dark pink with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly and blended out well on my skin. The texture was soft, smooth, and blendable with a touch of powderiness in the pan. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

It is much deeper and warmer-toned compared to the Light version. (Note: I found that the deep version of Soul Mates to be very similar to the light version of Darling.)
