Thanks to the freezing New York City temperatures right now,  my lips feel about as dry and prickly as a desert cactus—and the struggle to find a moisturizing lip balm to remedy it is real. But thanks to Ilia’s new Lip Wrap Reviving Balm, my prayers for constant hydration may finally be answered.

The glossy balm is packed with nourishing ingredients that help to strengthen lips’ moisture barrier, which helps to lock in hydration to keep them from drying out. The formula includes a powerful blend of hyaluronic acid (a humectant that helps plump the skin with moisture), prickly pear oil (a plant-derived ingredient that’s rich in antioxidants), and salicornia (a plant extract that is used to help retain water).

It’s a small step up from the brand’s beloved Lip Wrap Overnight Treatment ($26), which is an overnight exfoliating mask that helps to soften your lips. While the original treatment works its magic while you sleep, the new balm can be used throughout the day to replenish moisture and leave lips even more hydrated. Together, they’re like a shot of hydration for your skin.

Additionally, the balm’s handy applicator tip allows you to easily squeeze out product for better coverage, and a subtle scent of lavender and chamomile that helps calm your body and mind every time you apply.

Though the balm was just released, it has already received top marks from shoppers. “It’s nice and thick, and does not get licked off the second after applying—It has a nice gloss, and my lips feel happy and indeed revived,” writes one reviewer.

Another shopper praised its moisturizing powers and smooth texture. “This is by far one of the best lip balms I have ever used,” they commented. “The consistency is perfect but so hard to describe. It’s not sticky like a gloss but it’s not matte and drying like some lip treatments. A small amount goes a long way, it’s clear but shiny, and absorbs quickly. I don’t feel like I have to keep reapplying either as the hydration lasts for several hours. I also use the Ilia lip mask at night so I save the balm for the morning.”

With two more months of NYC winter ahead, this hydrating formula is exactly what my lips are thirsting for.
