Coronation Street star Simon Gregson, 45, revealed that he had suffered with the “bloody awful” coronavirus. The actor, who has played Steve McDonald on the soap since 1989, urged fans to stay safe.
The actor described his main symptoms he endured and said: “Started with diarrhoea which became crazy regular then very high temps shivers sweats very sharp pains strange fuzzy head and behind the eyes.” (sic)
After receiving an outpouring of support from fans, Steve returned to Twitter the next day to express his gratitude.
He said: “Thanks twitterford for all the kind messages feel tonnes better today.
“Heart goes out to all the people who have suffered so much more. Stay safe.”(sic)

A study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology examined 206 patients with a mild case of COVID-19.
They found 48 people had only digestive symptoms and another 69 had both digestive and respiratory symptoms.
Of the combined total of 117 people with gastric distress, 19.4 percent experienced diarrhoea as their first symptom.
Many people who develop COVID-19 also report losing their appetite, often alongside other gastrointestinal symptoms.
Why gastrointestinal symptoms occur with COVID-19
Researchers further investigated why gastrointestinal symptoms occur in COVID-19 and discovered that the virus attaches to an enzyme known as ACE2.
It is the same enzyme which regulates intestinal inflammation and controls the quality and proportion of good and bad bacteria in the gut.
It was further revealed that it therefore has a direct role to play in cardiac and pulmonary diseases.
“Taken together, the available evidence suggests a potential role of gut microbiota in the susceptibility of COVID-19 progression and severity,” the researchers wrote in their preliminary findings.
Gregson is one of a number of high-profile figures to have suffered from coronavirus.
Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Linda Lusardi, Pink and Idris Elba have all tested positive for the illness.
