I’m a Taurus, which means I’m a creature of habit, and I’m not big into change. It also means that I’m either 100 percent sure about things or I’m 100 percent not. I take a lot of time to make decisions and research everything hundreds of times—from new hair products to restaurants—before spending money. Now that you’ve gotten a peak inside my brain and understand how I function, you’ll better understand how I feel about the Ayond Metamorph Cleansing Balm.

First, let me rewind. I came across Ayond a year ago and immediately put it on my list of products to try. I’m a desert girl and the imagery on the Ayond website and Instagram immediately drew me in, not to mention the ingredients used in their products are local to the desert. Out of the four offerings, I knew I wanted to try the balm the most. Now, fast forward to the present day.

Ayond Metamorph Cleansing Balm

I finally got my hands on the cleansing balm, and it’s everything I imagined it to be and then more. Cleansing balms are great for removing dirt, debris, and makeup from your skin, and I particularly love them because they make my skin feel instantly revived and hydrated.

Balms I’ve used in the past were extremely thick and never seemed to completely melt into my skin, in order to fully cleanse it. This one, on the other hand, is thick, but without having that cement-like quality. It’s made with babassu and copaiba oils to draw out impurities while hydrating and rebalancing the skin; wild desert sage, chaparral, and frankincense to reduce irritation of the skin; and mimosa and candelilla wax to protect against moisture loss and to plump and the skin.

Before applying the balm to my skin, I couldn’t help but make note of the message on the packaging: “Boundless between worlds to transcend the ordinary.” This may not mean much to others, but I love little notes that make me think and inspire me. The packaging itself is gorgeous, and the actual container is a beautiful, minimal black jar. Upon opening the cleanser, you see the contrast of the balm, a light cream color, and you’re met with the most subtle scent of the desert which instantly takes me back to the numerous cotton-candy streaked sunrises and sunsets and monsoons I’ve witnessed over the years.

Because I exercise a lot, I tend to opt for a cleansing balm as the first step in my morning and evening skin-care routines. Pro tip: Make sure both your hands and face are dry when applying and use less than what you think you need. I rub the balm all over and let it sit for five minutes, then I wet my fingers, rub it in, and rinse. Now, the part that truly differentiates the Metamorph Cleansing Balm from other offerings is that once wet, it goes from a balm to a salve, which in my opinion makes it work better with your skin and actually allows it to fulfill its full purpose.

I’ve been using this balm daily since I got it and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon. Each time I put it on my face, I feel surprised all over again at how good it is. This cleansing balm now has a prime spot in my medicine cabinet, right next to the Ayond Rock Rose Face Serum and the Amber Elix Face Oil, and I plan on keeping it that way, in true Taurus fashion.
