One should prioritise skincare and visit an expert to seek proper treatment for severe cases of acne.

Acne is one of the most annoying skin conditions that women face, especially after their teenage years. These random breakouts appear out of nowhere and leave behind scars and blemishes to begin with. These acne scars can be very stubborn and take a lot of time and care to reduce their appearance. Despite investing their money in a lot of skincare products and even trying out home remedies, getting smooth and supple skin remains just a dream.

There are a few things that must be kept in mind to prevent acne scars from getting worse or forming on the skin in the first place. Here are a few skincare tricks that can help permanently remove those stubborn acne marks.

  1. At certain points in time, all of us feel tempted to pop or squeeze a pimple to clear out the face. This must be strictly avoided. When squeezing acne, the chances of pushing what’s inside (pus, dead skin, or bacteria) increase. This can lead to inflammation, thus causing more noticeable acne and even scarring and pain. Instead, one can treat it with proper medication or see a dermatologist when in pain.
  2. While markets are filled with every sort of acne-treating product, not many are truly effective in reducing acne scars. In severe cases, one should prioritise skincare over experimenting and should visit a skin expert seeking proper treatment. They offer to perform a few procedures, depending on the severity, lifestyle, and urgency, and are mostly very effective. While getting laser treatments is quite common, many other advanced options are now available like atmospheric plasma, hyaluronic moisturisers, chemical peels, fillers and microneedling.
  3. Getting influenced by the promising results claimed by skincare brands, people end up changing their products quite often. This only leads to more breakouts and marks. You should allow at least 6–8 weeks for a product to work on your issue. Products that come with natural ingredients should be included in the skincare regime to help with skin healing, reduce scarring, and cause less damage.
  4. Many people have the habit of using makeup on a regular basis. This can slow down the process of skin healing. These makeup products contain oil and many other ingredients that clog pores, causing acne breakouts. In such cases, you can skip a few days of makeup to allow the skin to breathe and soak in the skincare or ongoing treatment. During this time, you should avoid aggressive scrubbing.
