Drinking hot water causes the body to heat up more.
The expert stated that health-related topics shared on social media should not be trusted.
People start eating cold foods and beverages to get relief from the scorching heat during summer. They frequently start drinking cold water from the refrigerator. According to experts, drinking chilly water is bad for our health. Recently, Padma Shri awardee Dr M Vali, senior consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and former president’s physician, shared whether drinking cold water in summer months is harmful for health or not. Dr M Wali has recently shared that, till date, no such research or study has come out that has proved that drinking cold water during a heatwave harms our bodies. He shared that when the heat increases too much, then obviously people drink cold water. Drinking hot water causes the body to heat up more. No matter how much chilled water one drinks in the summer, it will adjust as soon as it goes inside the body. He said that the temperature inside our body is constant, and when some cold things go into it, the body’s mechanism automatically balances it. The body has its own thermodynamics, which it constantly adjusts. As a result, drinking cold water throughout the heat is quite safe.
Dr Wali has stated that health-related topics shared on social media should not be trusted without first checking with a doctor since they are not guaranteed. According to Dr Vali, a heat stroke develops when our body is completely dehydrated and the body temperature goes above 104 degrees. So, if the body is not hydrated immediately, then the brain, heart, kidneys, and muscles start getting damaged.
A stroke can develop when the delivery of oxygen to the brain begins to decrease or is stopped. As a result, whether it’s chilly or warm, one should drink plenty of water during the summer. Along with water, one should also consume more watery fruits to keep the body hydrated.
Consuming more green leafy vegetables in our diet, especially cucumber, watermelon, banana, celery, is also important. Along with this, one should not go out in extreme heat. Stay in the shade as much as possible. It is important for one to go out, they must carry an umbrella before stepping out of the house, wear sunglasses, and always keep a water bottle. In cases of slight discomfort, one should drink ORS solution or mix salt and sugar in water and drink it.
