4 CBD Bath Bombs To Make Your Soak Even More Relaxing

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a non-psychoactive compound found in hemp, and exists in products like gummies, supplements, drinks, balms, serums, and more thanks to its applied use of reducing anxiety and muscle pain, facilitating sleep, and even nourishing skin and hair. But, IMO, the most relaxing and fun way to integrate the compound into your self-care routine is with CBD bath bombs. With the addition of CBD to bath bombs, a regular end-of-day soak can transform into a decidedly spa-like experience.

According to Maia Reed, the director of member education at CBD-product company Equilibria, CBD bath bombs are usually made out of four star ingredients: baking soda, citric acid, epsom salts, and (of course) CBD, plus the natural fragrances and colors that makes picking them the adult equivalent of being a kid in a candy shop. When added to a warm bath, the bomb begins to fizz, releasing the star ingredients into the water to then be soaked up into your skin through your pores.

But do know that there’s little by way of concrete science to back up the claims when it comes to CBD’s studied efficacy. “There is very little data from rigorous scientific research on the therapeutic effects of CBD,” J. H. Atkinson, MD, of the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California, San Diego previously told Well+Good. But though the purported benefits are best taken with a grain of salt, that doesn’t mean they’re without any value.

“CBD works on our endocannabinoid system (ECS), a system which helps to maintain homeostasis within the body and is made up of a series of receptors, everywhere from the brain and gut to the uterus and all over our skin,” says Reed. The ECS can help regulate mood, pain-sensation, libido, appetite, and even memory and when cannabinoids interact with the system. So, now that you understand the compound may anecdotally provide you with some feel-good benefits, consider taking advantage with CBD bath bombs.
