Zendaya Said “Florals for Spring But Make It 1920s Art Goth” — See the Photos

Zendaya never met a red carpet she didn’t shut down, so to say we were waiting for her 2024 Met Gala look with bated breath is the understatement of the century. The star is fresh off a white-hot fashion run promoting both Dune: Part Two and Challengers, but to co-chair the Gala, she swapped the futuristic suits and tennis gear in favor of a vintage-inspired glam and dramatic one-shoulder Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano gown for the Gala, looking like she stepped right out of a literary art salon in Paris circa the 1920s. (One with a fabulous garden, at that.)

Because she wore a netted fascinator hat, her hair was kept simple, pulled back into a classic knot at the back of her head. Her makeup, however, was the complete opposite — it was all about the drama, transforming the star into a decadent socialite from the 1920s. Her brows were either hidden or bleached entirely, then drawn on in skinny, pencil-thin arches above a gradient red eye, with color diffused all the way up to the brows. Tons of thick black eyeliner on her upper and lower lashlines, including her waterlines, made her eyes smolder even more.
