Woman who lost 10 stone in just one year reveals her ‘one secret’

A woman who lost a whopping 10 stone in only one year has revealed her ‘one secret’.

Samantha Cobb, 49, from Chelmsford, Essex, joined Slimming World due to concerns about her health. 

She then lost 10 stone nine pounds by still eating her normal diet of curries and spaghetti bolognese. 

However, she credits the secret of her success to just one thing – upping her vegetable consumption to make her feel fuller.

Speaking to EssexLive, Samantha said: ‘I think the secret is try to have as much vegetables as you can with your meals.’

She added: ‘They’re classed at Slimming World as speed food, as they help you lose the weight quicker.’

Samantha – who did not reveal how much she currently weighs – said she wanted to slim down for health reasons.

However, the 49-year-old said it was difficult to know where to start. 

At first, she said she initially found the idea of joining Slimming World was ‘scary’. 

Since joining last year, Samantha has been going to meetings at least once a week. 

As a result of her impressive weight loss, she has now been crowned her group’s ‘greatest loser’.

Samantha added that she loved having the support of the group and is only halfway through her journey.

When she joined, Samantha had been aiming to lose five stone in her first year – and is chuffed to have doubled this. 

Samantha said she initially scared of joining the slimming club but found that it was actually quite helpful

She said she could still eat all her favourite meals, such as spaghetti bolognese, she just ate smaller portions  

As a result, she has even convinced her husband to enroll in Slimming World too. 

And she explained that she enjoyed the fact she could still eat her favourite meals, such as roast dinners, spaghetti bolognese and curries.

Although she still has ‘ups and downs’ with her weight, Samantha said having a community around her makes it easier to stick to her lifestyle overhaul.
