Living a healthy life is tough. Everyone says that you need to live a lifestyle that makes you fitter and healthier but how do you do that? There is a lot of different research that has gone on and as such there are a lot of different answers out there. How do you know what will work for you? The truth is everyone has things that will work for them, and you need to figure out what is good for you. Here is a little list of places to start getting fitter and healthier.
Physiotherapy
It may seem like an extreme step to take straight away but going to see a physiotherapist can help you get a structure of a plan for your fitness journey. A good physiotherapist like the ones found at Broadmead Physiotherapy can help you figure out where you need to strengthen yourself and how you can go about introducing an exercise regime into your life. This is really helpful for someone who struggles to find the time to implement changes in their hectic lifestyle.
Exercise Regularly
One of the best ways to get fitter is to exercise regularly. Now, this needs to be combined with a healthy diet but finding exercise that works for you is super important for a new lifestyle. Experts recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise a week or around 75-minutes of quite a vigorous exercise. You should spread this over 4 or 5 days to make it more manageable. However, not everything has to be hitting the gym every day. Moderate exercise can be as small as a brisk walk.
Stay hydrated
You will probably find that you don’t drink as much water as is recommended. The daily intake recommended by experts is around 2 liters or 6-8 cups. Importantly, this is actual water and not fizzy drinks or tea and coffee. It should be straight water from the bottle or tap. What you will find is that when you start drinking water more regularly, you will likely feel less hungry or snacky throughout the day. You should try and carry a water bottle around with you to encourage you to drink more water.
Nutrition
This can be an overwhelming part of getting fitter and healthier. There are lots of different diets and choices to think about. The important thing to remember is that to get fitter you need to burn more calories than you are bringing in. This means that you should keep an eye on what you are eating. Things like chocolate are high in calories while fruit and vegetables are much less. You don’t need to cut out all sugary treats but need to counterbalance them with exercise and good nutrition.
Getting fitter and healthier
This is not the easiest thing to do but it is worthwhile once you can get the balance right. Just make sure not to take on too much at once. You need to do it sustainably so that you can continue to progress in your fitness journey. It will make you happier and healthier.
