This Banana Frozen Yogurt Recipe Is Gut-Friendly Goodness

You know those summer nights when you’re craving a cold dessert but your freezer is devastatingly ice cream-free? We’ve all been there, but TikTok recipe legend and registered dietitian Mia Swinehart, RD, has an easy fix for next time you’re in an emergency situation like this one. Her banana frozen yogurt recipe includes Oreo cookies, and packs plenty of fiber and probiotics so you can take care of your digestion while enjoying dessert.

Studies show that fiber may increase the amount of good bacteria in your gut, protect your gut against pathogens, and stop bad bacteria in their tracks. Probiotics, meanwhile, aid digestion and may help protect you from urinary tract infections, diarrhea, eczema, and digestive disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

As long as you have bananas, greek yogurt, milk, and some kind of cookie—preferably Oreos, per Swinehart’s recommendation—you have the ingredients for this blizzard. (You also have the option to add nut butter, if you like.) Once you’ve assembled your ingredients, you’ll simply throw everything but the cookies in to a blender to combine, then add your Oreos and pulse them for a few seconds to finish everything off. It’s that easy, folks!

Once you’ve blended up your fro-yo, you’ll be chowing down on six grams of fiber from the bananas and three additional grams from the peanut butter, if you include it. Plus, the probiotics from the Greek yogurt. You’ll also get a nice burst of protein from the Greek yogurt and nut butter combination—so consider that a third win.

So without further ado, let’s get down to ice cream eating. Shall we? The below recipe yields a couple servings, so feel free to share… or not.
