The Blush Behind Natalie Joy’s People’s Choice Awards Look

Model, and let’s not forget certified surgical technologist, Natalie Joy first rose to fame after linking up with the red rose–wielding The Bachelor’s Nick Viall, so it’s no surprise she arrived at the People’s Choice Awards with a red hot look. Her makeup artist, Alexis Oakley, says the goal was to have the look “be very monochromatic and clean,” and we think she nailed it.

Blush has been making a comeback in a big way, especially avant-garde placement of the pigment. Oakley leaned into this. Joy’s blush bleeds right into her eye makeup, creating the perfect romantic monochromatic look we didn’t know we needed, and the blush is the star of the show.

“I love how the placement of the blush instantly snatched Natalie’s face,” Oakley tells us. “Placing the blush high on your cheekbones creates such a youthful and playful look. I made sure it had similar tones to the eyeshadow I used, so it created a very soft monochromatic vibe.”

The blush in question was a combination of three different Jouer shades—Tease Me, Seduce Me and Adore Me ($33 each). The eye shadow shades come from Pat McGrath Mothership IX: Huetopian Dream ($128). The way the two mesh together creates an eye-catching burst of muted crimson.

Other highlights of Joy’s look include Dior Backstage Glow Highlighter Palette ($45) and Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Bronze-02 ($45) to balance out the blush shades. On the lips, she’s sporting Makeup Forever Artist Color Pencil in Anywhere Caffeine ($22) and MAC Matte Lipstick in Honey Love ($21).
