Statins: Confusion, slurred speech or loss of vision are signs of elevated creatine kinase

The study involved 359 patients taking statins with high CK values.

Muscle-related symptoms and biochemical variables, including CK, MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase (CK-MB), troponin and carbonic anhydrase type III were evaluated. 

The results of the study found a higher CK level from simvastatin.

“In the present study, a high number of patients had elevated CK-MB values (36.2 percent),” concluded the study.
