Jennifer Lopez has blown us away yet again in another stunning MET Gala appearance. This year, the star is co-chairing the ‘Garden of Time’ themed event, and her look certainly didn’t disappoint. Dripping with thousands of beads that took over 800 hours of work, Lopez embodied the Sleeping Beauty MET exhibit in a stunning Schiaparelli naked dress.
And while her gown certainly caught eyes and light, it’s her delicately mussed bun that we can’t stop talking about. That’s because it was achieved for under $20, and we just can’t believe it.
Styled by Lorenzo Martin, the look came together using the new Shark FlexStyle Sparkle in Black Diamond, TRESemmé products and Tangle Teezer. Martin walks us through exactly how to achieve the delicate up-do with the perfect TRESemmé products to stand up to the May humidity.
“On wet hair, apply the Tresemme Mousse Keratin Smooth Hydrating Hair Treatment ($7) to roots and protecting heat all over,” Martin explains. “Then begin rough drying with the Styling Concentrator attachment of the new, fast, and powerful Shark FlexStyle Sparkle Air Styling & Drying System in Black Diamond. Dry until damp.”
Martin used small sections of hair to create texture using the auto-wrap curler attachments before prepping Lopez for the style.
“Mix a dime size of Tresemmé Weightless Silk Serum ($9), Tresemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray ($8) and Tresemmé Mega Control Hair Gel ($8) together, and then run your fingers throughout the hair,” Martin explains. “Then, snatch a high pony using Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler Brush ($16) to tame all the hair.”
Next comes teasing. On Lopez, Martin focused on making the look messy.
“The messier the better!” Martin adds, before explaining how to create the bun shape. “Secure with a brown medium hair elastic at the top of your head. The last wrap, pull the hair half way through, creating a loop and pin it to the crown of the head. Secure any extra hair loosely into the bun.”
The finishing touch is a touch of Tresemme Exta Hold Hair Spray ($8) to keep the style looking perfect on the green carpet.
