People on TikTok Are Using Maybelline Tattoo Brow as Semi-Permanent Lip Liner and Lipstick — See Videos

The TikTok girlies strike again — this time, with the help of a $15 product. As anyone on the app will tell you, it’s always best to work smart, not hard. That goes especially when finding new ways to enhance the features of your face such as your brows or the shape of your lips. Apparently, according to TikTok users, you can semi-permanently tint your brows and line your lips for up to three days at a time using the Maybelline New York Tattoo Brow Peel-Off Tint. 

This TikTok-viral product is meant to be an affordable solution to semi-permanent tinted brows. It comes in three shades: light brown, medium brown, and dark. Although its intended use is obviously for our furry friends above our eyes, the product had recently made its mark in a whole new way: as a lip liner. 

Upon initial application to the lip line, the liquid consistency of this brow tint looks to be extremely dark at first — which may startle some. Take digital creator and TikTok user Minnie Faye Rayment for one. She was surely hesitant when filming her review of the brow tint as a lip liner. She mentions that her discovery of the hack came from Sacheu Beauty founder Sarah Cheung and her original take on the lip lining trick that has garnered about 1.6 million views.

“The regret is like… up here, so far,” Rayment laughs in her review video with her hand inching above her head. But once that initial hesitance fades away, it’s time for the fun part: that satisfying peel-off moment. She uses the base of her finger to gently smudge off the product, which dries down to a gel-like consistency over the course of 15 minutes.

Rayment mentions to Allure that the semi-permanent lip liner only actually lasted for about two days. Thankfully, her lips had no negative reaction at all to the intended eyebrow tint, although she was “very skeptical at first.” 

Not long after, TikTok user @tiana_thelawyer gave her own review of the brow-tint-slash-lip-lining experience. “I know I’m not the only one that saw the video, OK. I had to try it,” she confidently says in her TikTok. After letting the Tattoo Brow sit on her lip line for 10 minutes, she peels off the medium-brown shade to find herself pleasantly surprised with the final result — a subtle light brown tint.
