‘There’s nothing definitive. We’re lucky that people seem to really like the show so there’s obviously going to be some interest there.’

However, the executive producer insists any related show would have to have a marked difference from the main show.

‘It was really important for me to end this show,’ he explained. ‘This is the work we did, we did our best and we hope people like it.

‘And then anything that spins off from it would be its own distinct thing, even though it’s in our universe.’

The final episode of Ozark saw the tale come to a conclusion for Marty and Wendy Byrde (Jason and Laura).

The couple’s fundraiser for their foundation was a huge success, but events took a sour turn when cartel boss Camila Navarro (Verónica Falcón) discovered Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) had killed her son Javi (Alfonso Herrerra).

In brutal scenes, Ruth was shot dead by Camila with the audience momentarily being led to believe the Byrde couple had got away with their actions.

However, private investigator Mel Sattem (Adam Rothenberg) showed up to blow their chances apart as he knew what happened with Ben’s (Tom Pelphrey) death.

Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) then arrived on the scene brandishing a gun, with the screen then fading to black as the sound of a gunshot rung out.

Someone else shared: ‘The ending of Ozark was not very good. They ran out of story plot lines.’

‘Just finished Ozark. Not a very good ending,’ wrote someone else. ‘Great series overall but the the ending was a letdown.’

Someone else tweeted: ‘That #Ozark finally finished. Great build up, potential for a great ending and then crashing down to earth just like #Sopranos was left underwhelmed.’

However, not everyone agreed, and some fans were left content with what they saw.

‘Finished Ozark,’ one impressed fan wrote.’Good ending; though some have already disagreed with my thoughts on the very last few minutes of the finale. Jonah’s defensive, desperate measure for some semblance of normalcy again was not lost on me.’

Someone else wrote: ‘I liked the Ozark ending but it left me wanting more. Great show. Gonna miss it.’

One other person posted: ‘Ozark had me crying but overall it was a great ending, Jason bates is a great actor.’
