[unpaid/affiliate] I’m a little bit up to my ears with beauty so I’ve switched across for today to highlight some things from one of my favorite shops, Anthropologie. I remember being so excited the first time I went to New York and one of the top places I wanted to visit was Anthropologie. If you don’t know the store, it’s an eclectic and quirky mix of clothing, jewellery and homeware. Inside, it’s wooden floor boards and slightly chaotic tables stacked with all sorts of things you never knew you wanted but somehow they’re immediately irresistible. I can even remember the smell of cinnamon and earthiness. They often feature designer collaborations with artisans and small producers and they’re usually whimsical and charming. I’ve got several treasured items from this store – my favourite being a plate from my mum by Nathalie Lete who we’ve seen illustrate for several beauty brands. So here we go:
These cake plates are by Nathalie Lete in her Titania collection. They’re £14 each and I think a lovely friend gift if given with an individual panetone or cake treat. There are three to select from HERE. I’ve kept my day to day dinner ware plain white but am always a sucker for a cute side plate.
I love stacking rings – the rings you see in the picture look big but they’re teeny-weeny and I like the level of detail on them. You can wear them alone or as intended – stacked up! They come in the sweetest packaging and are £58 HERE. The star necklace is the Vega Lustre by Nagel & Sisters – three sisters with French/English heritage – and is made in east London. It’s £125 HERE.
There is only one style of Susannah Garrod candles left – Peppermint Stick – which is the front candle in the picture. Susannah Garrod is a UK illustrator and the candle is described as ‘gourmande’. I love it because it can easily turn into a vase or pot for pretty things once it is finished with as a candle and come out every Christmas thereafter. It’s £24 HERE. Canape napkins fall in to the completely unnecessary things in life. I know they do, but how lovely with a mince pie, right? They’re £22 HERE and also by Susannah Garrod.
The bottom mug is another Nathalie Lete design from the Titania collection and it’s just a joy – I’m smiling writing about it! I think you’re giving a cup of good cheer as well as an adorable design. I’d match with some beautiful tea or hot chocolate mix. It’s £12 HERE. The top cup, by London based ceramicist Francesca Kaye is (now) on back order and not expected to ship until Christmas eve. I’m not going to say anything about how difficult gift guides are but this is a prime example – it was in stock yesterday!
I have a thing for pretty teaspoons ever since I rescued some enamelled ones (they’ve featured in various pictures over the years) from my Grandma’s house. Weirdly, Max, who has never shown the slightest interest in home wares recently picked up some Swedish vintage enamelled teaspoons at a sale in Stockholm. Who knew there was a teaspoon gene?! They’re £34 for a set of 4 HERE and a little ray of sunshine in an otherwise rather utilitarian cutlery drawer. The Appoline butter dish is hand made in France and its exactly the sort of folksy thing that stops me living in minimalistic bliss! I can’t help it – in my head my ideal home is sleek and uncluttered but in reality, that’s not the case. But each thing has its own story and reason to be there and while it’s ever so easy to dive into the butter from the pot or wrapping, it’s just a nicer thing from a dish. This is £22 HERE.
