Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipsticks

[purchase/affiliate/ad] I did a 10 Minute Clinic on Instagram last week with professional make-up artist and friend, Caroline Barnes, who did a quick glowy skin tutorial. She used a particular Max Factor lipstick called Pink Brandy which really is so cheery and delicious that I had to buy one. In fact, once at the MF stand in Boots I ended up with two new lipsticks!

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipsticks

Pink Brandy is rather an excited coral colour – pulled back from being a full orange by some pinkish undertones. It’s in a satin formula that I softened with a little bit of lip balm because I prefer a bit more shine – I noticed that they both look far brighter outside than it does inside so you will need to take that into account. They get lit up by light.  However, the colour that really called me in Boots was Bewitching Coral – a real smacker of a pink led coral that makes itself known without shouting too loudly. They’re both highly pigmented so one swipe should be enough – if they’re too bright for you, dilute with a balm by either mixing in your palm or just adding dots of the lipstick to your lips and then working the balm around to distribute the colour.

The last on both of these is quite something – it’s got excellent adherence to the lips so it doesn’t drift off at the first sign of food or liquid. They’re not drying – always my main fear with any lipstick – shea butter, avocado and aloe butters are in the formula which explains that, but I think my dream lip wear would be these colours in a balmy finish. They’re not expensive at all compared to some of the lipsticks that have featured here in recent weeks at £8.99 HERE each. If you feel a bit of autumn gloom descending, they’ll certainly cheer things up!

I’ve added in pictures of me wearing them, but Caroline has the opposite colouring to me – blue eyes and blonde hair and Pink Brandy suits her just as well. If I have a negative it’s that the tubes feel really light and plastic-y – otherwise, what a revelation. I haven’t so much as touched a Max Factor product for years and this is a wonderful re-introduction. Non-affiliate HERE.
