Maggie Q.’s Tips on How to Feel and Look Your Best

Fox’s new comedy Pivoting stars Maggie Q, who is a master at shifting years. The 42-year-old actress and activist is known for her action roles—like her recent turns as lead assassin in The Protégé—but this time she’s killing it in comedy. “I can relate to my character in so many ways, and in others I don’t,” she says. “She focuses on the external to search for answers, but if something’s not working for me, I look inside for what needs to change.”

The Hawaiian-born former model and stunt woman says her unique Polish, Irish and Vietnamese background has given her a lifetime of beauty lessons. “You have to hit it from all sides. There are so many different approaches—some eastern, some western. I’ve learned to take the best of my cultures and apply them to different areas.” Here, her top tips for looking and feeling good inside and out.

Morning Moves

“I steam in the morning with oils when I can, and then I use very cold water. I like products without chemicals that act like food for the skin. If you’re going to nourish, it must be a product worth absorbing into your skin.”

Anti-Aging Approach

“Sweat naturally. I make sure I work out, and when you sweat it’s like a natural facelift. Don’t discount it!”

Skin Saviors

“Christine Chin is seriously the greatest facialist and her team is outstanding for treatments. I love their lasers because they aren’t harsh, and they allow collagen to be boosted.”

Healthy Habits

“Eating early and hydrating is essential so I can rejuvenate at night. Also sleeping early!”

Muscle Builders

“I do lots of stretching to stay limber, cardio and strength training—and it has to be daily to get the endurance up.”

David Katzinger

Gadget Goals

“I have a whole-body infrared light for muscle and tissue repair that I love.”

On-Set Secrets

“Two things I’ve learned: Use a hot towel for dry, cracked lips. In the morning, use cold under the eyes before makeup.”

My love for the oceans and desire to protect them inspired me to create Qeep Up, my sustainable athleisure line.

Embracing 40

“You may look a bit older, but you are so much wiser and that allows for a confidence you don’t have when you are younger.”

Center Focus

“To unwind, I hike with my dogs. I read. I also love comedy. Stretching also brings me back into balance.”

Desert-Island Musts

“My probiotics, my morning green juice, and my cold plunge and sauna.”

Try This

“At least once in your life, try one minute in 40-degree water, whale-watching and climb a large mountain.”
