If the Powerpuff Girls had a favorite exfoliating peel, it would be Kiramoon Star Jelly Magic Resurfacing Facial. I have to admit, I was initially drawn to the bottle based on its bubblegum pink packaging—it’s playful, accessible, and not at all intimidating like some other Serious Skin Care (TM) tends to be. It’s got a lot more going for it than its Gen Z outfit, too. Featuring potent ingredients like alpha-hydroxy-acids (10 percent), niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, the jelly is balanced by nourishing passion fruit seed oil and cactus flower extract. TLDR: It’s a transformative facial in a bottle.

Kiramoon Star Jelly Magic Resurfacing Facial Mask

As someone with finicky skin (the second my finger touches my chin, I break out), I rely on exfoliators to keep it clear, smooth, and bright. My oily-combo skin also tends to get dull if I don’t drink enough water or get enough sleep, so I consistently reach for peels or scrubs. I replaced my go-tos with the Star Jelly resurfacing facial for a week to see how my skin reacted to it, and let’s just say that I’ll be adding it to my nightly skin-care rotation.

If you’ve used exfoliating masks before (like Drunk Elephant Babyfacial or Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate), then you’ll be familiar with the process. You brush on a thin layer of the jelly-like product all over your face (just don’t apply it near your eyes… because ouch!), wait for it to dry (about 20 to 30 minutes, or the time it takes you to finish an episode of Schitt’s Creek), and rinse with lukewarm water. The mask buffs away dead skin cells and leaves skin more supple and so, so smooth. The bottle comes with a complimentary brush, so you don’t need to worry about purchasing one separately.

It also helps breakouts. I could feel two blemishes on my chin making their way into the world yesterday, but the night after using the facial, I woke up to a clear face. I’m seriously not exaggerating—I keep touching my chin to see where the zits went, forgetting that’s how I got myself into this near-tragedy situation to begin with.

One thing I need to point out is that the bottle says “fragrance-free,” but there is a scent to it (FYI: that probably just means no additional “masking fragrances” were added). It’s subtle and personally reminds me of the whiff you get when you open a bag of gummy bears (the site says it’s naturally scented with vanilla and sweet almond, but I get a fruitier smell), but it’s there, so just FYI.

Made with recyclable packaging and cruelty-free ingredients, Kiramoon is a brand I feel good about investing in. It also looks adorable in my bathroom.
