Kaja Beauty Bento Bouncy Eyeshadow Trio is a favorite of Allure staffers (it won a Best of Beauty award), myself included. It’s more than the packaging. I love the cute little stacks that open and close with a satisfying snap, but the shadows themselves are also really good. Whether you grab a fluffy brush to apply or just use your fingers, you get a lovely color payoff and, most importantly, a shadow look that lasts.
Give me any one of these Bento sets and I’m content, but lately, I’ve been quite partial to Chocolate Dahlia, a trio of shadows in neutral chocolatey hues. Each Bento set has a light, medium, and dark color and this particular one includes a shimmery, rosy beige, a medium-hued matte taupe, and a richer matte dark brown.
This set is a crowd pleaser. It can work on a number of skin tones, plus its neutral hues can help you create an eye shadow look that goes with pretty much anything. I mean, you can’t go wrong with beiges and browns, especially ones this pretty.
I tested this out with a simple two-shadow look. I’ve been something of a shadow minimalist during this pandemic. I still like to wear it, but the multi-step process I used to do has gone out the window. I’m quite content with a matte crease color and something nice and sparkly on my lids.
I started by dipping a blending brush into the darkest shade, and then buffing it into my crease. I’ve got a medium-brown complexion, so I thought that the deep chocolate shade would be best to add some definition to my eyes. The middle, lighter shade, I think would work on my lids if I was doing an all-matte look with these shadows. But, because I like to sparkle, I dipped my finger into the top champagne hue, swiped it over my lid, then grabbed my blending brush again to blur any harsh lines.
Guys, it was the easiest eye shadow look ever and I got so many compliments on it. Seriously — I had a haircut appointment right after putting this on, and the girls in the shop were living! And after several hours of wear there wasn’t a single crease in sight.
