Janet Jackson’s Sculptural Faux Locs Look Like an Infinity Symbol — See Photos

In addition to her status as pop royalty, Janet Jackson has long cemented herself as a beauty icon, particularly because of her hair. Throughout the years, her gorgeous hairstyles have been referenced often, even by other celebrities: remember when Ciara recreated Jackson’s edgy half-up, half-down hair from the “What’s It Gonna Be?!” music video for Halloween? And we can’t forget her Poetic Justice braids or her red hair era, both of which were iconic. For the last year, she’s been loyal to protective styles in black hues with hints of cobalt blue. Now, her faux locs have been fashioned into an infinity symbol that towers above her head.

The Allure February 2022 cover star shared photos of the avant-grade hairstyle with Instagram fans on February 16. Hairstylist Larry Sims twisted her lengthy faux locs into two large circles on the side of her head to create the infinity symbol. Cobalt blue pieces of hair stand out in each loop. While this sculptural element is complex, Sims kept the rest of the style simple by braiding the remainder of her faux locs into a simple low ponytail that cascades to her hips.

This style is amazing, but we’re also loving Jackson’s makeup here, which was applied by makeup artist Preston Meneses. He blended her base makeup to perfection, and on her eyes, he blended matte brown and shimmery bronze shadows. To finish, he paired the glittery eye look with a neutral lip gloss and a hint of highlighter on her nose.

Leave it to Jackson to consistently experiment with creative hairstyles. As with many of her looks, we’re sure that a few fans will attempt to recreate the sculptural look in honor of the Rhythm Nation singer — and honestly, we can’t wait.
